Transform and Maintain Your Outdoor Space with Miller Landscape by Miller Landscape

Miller Landscape is a family-owned business that has been flourishing for over 40 years, specializing in landscape design, installation, and maintenance for custom outdoor living. Their passion and expertise have earned them multiple prestigious awards and they have even been featured on HGTV. Founding Owners Bruce and Lisa Miller established the company in 1981. Their daughter, Britany Heater, joined the company full-time two decades ago and is now the Director of Marketing and Development.

Britany has a unique perspective on growing up within the company and navigating its evolution. After pursuing a degree in marketing with an emphasis on public relations, she realized there was a significant need for marketing expertise within her parents' company. From her initial focus on marketing to taking on developmental projects, Britany found herself with a level of creative freedom that would have been rare in a larger firm—bringing fresh ideas and technical skills. Her transition from marketing to developmental roles over the last two decades has allowed her to influence various aspects of the company.

One of the biggest challenges Miller Landscape has faced was navigating the commercial zoning regulations for their new building for which they held a groundbreaking ceremony last month. This process was lengthy and complex, but the company is excited about the new space and the opportunities it brings. The larger workspace means adapting workflows and processes, a task Britany has taken on to ensure seamless customer service and attention to detail.

While many people believe in the myth of free estimates—not realizing the extensive planning and design work required for accurate project quotations—Miller Landscape pioneered the approach of charging for designs to ensure clarity and customer satisfaction from the outset. This practice has now been widely adopted within the industry, emphasizing the importance of detailed planning.

Contractor reliability is a widespread issue and Miller Landscape is all too often called in to rectify situations where customers have been left with half-finished projects by unreliable contractors, although it presents challenges in assessing and continuing the work.

Miller Landscape offers a generous 90-day warranty on plants, often extending it to ensure customer satisfaction. However, the company faces challenges when customers neglect watering, leading to plant deaths. Britany advises watering new installations for at least 30 minutes a day to help roots establish, underscoring the significance of ongoing plant care.

Recently implementing a new online review process where customers can rate their service for their weekly lawn maintenance, Miller Landscape has found that their employees are extremely vested in knowing their score (and a little competitive, too)—but mostly that they are proud to provide top notch service to their customers.

Community engagement is a cornerstone of Miller Landscape’s philosophy. The company actively participates in local initiatives and supports various community projects. Miller Landscape’s social media presence, including Instagram and Facebook platforms, is rich with content, offering valuable insights and articles that engage their community.

Miller Landscape continues to embrace a close-knit family dynamic where work and play often intertwine. Britany’s siblings—Blake, Bruce, and Bethany—are also involved with the business. When they are not at work, their family is often spending quality family time by the pool or grilling out. The company’s showroom, featuring the latest products and installations, doubles as a space for family gatherings and social events. This unique blend of business and personal life adds a special dimension to Miller Landscape’s story.
